The Nord Stream 2 project is subject to national legislation in each of the countries whose Territorial Waters and/or Exclusive Economic Zones it crosses. Nord Stream 2 submitted its national permit applications in accordance with the national legislation to competent authorities.
As part of the permit applications Nord Stream 2 has developed and submitted the following national EIAs that describe and evaluate the potential impacts originating in their respective countries:
The primary documentation associated with each of the national EIAs is available below. For more details on the country specific regulatory processes, please visit our corporate website.
Under the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (“Espoo Convention”), certain industrial projects with potential impacts that cross a national border, such as the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline project, need to include these in their assessment. An Espoo Report has therefore also been developed by Nord Stream 2. The Espoo Report also provides an evaluation of the overall impact of the project in its entirety, across all countries that may be affected. The Espoo Report for the Nord Stream 2 project is available below.
